People forget at one time there was a serious possibility of Raw and Smackdown having no TV deal, which is part of the reason why Vince started the network. Things worked out for them and they were lucky to have multiple bids at the last round of deals which is the entire reason they're more profitable than ever. If AEW doesn't get rival bids to WBD then there's zero incentive for them to get a significant bump in rights fees. With the way things are going with the merger just getting a renewal should be seen as a win.

So who does that leave?
Universal/Comcast? Works with WWE
Fox? Even if Fox is disappointed with AEW they don't want a smaller fed that has never gotten the historic ratings of WWE and would need to clean up it's image for network tv a lot

Viacom? That means settling for the Paramount Network or PopTV
