>>8231825The closest I've been to getting legitimately mad was Hiromu beating Despy at BoSJ this year even though I saw it coming, and I guess the cooling off of Despy and the title situation in general. He was on the run of his career after finally getting a definitive win over Hiromu at WK, having great defences against Wato(!) and SHO, there was organic hype for a feud with El Lindaman, and the Kasai match coming up, and then we see him drop the title to Ishimori. I assume this was because they thought it was better for KUSHIDA to have his return match against a pure heel, and its not their fault that he got sick, but the fact that we are going six months without a title defence is fucking ridiculous. They could have kept Despy's momentum going by having him win BoSJ, but I wasn't shocked they took the chance to have Hiromu win two records at the same time. It's still frustrating though, even if you don't often get the opportunity to give someone the most overall and most consequtive wins at the same time, for it to come down to Hiromu and Despy again and have Despy come up short again was just maddening. Maybe I'm just being worked but unlike Naito, Despy was as great as champ as he was in the chase and I really hope we get a proper 9+ month Despy reign again, because I haven't been as invested in any Heavyweight champ since I got back into wrestling in 2020 as I was in Despy's title runs.
