>>8266962>Am I alone in thinking that boomers and purists just pretend to like boring resthold matches just to seem smart?People just slapping on a hold and doing nothing is laziness, but holds don't have to be boring. If Wrestler A tries to grab Wrestler B's arm, they should do things to escape it and avoid it because that what you would do in a real fight and it's more interesting than just letting it happen. I don't think a lot of current wrestlers have ever considered that though.
That was one of the things World of Sport really did well.. People fought to get out of holds because when they did get put in holds, they usually submitted because otherwise, they would get their body part broken. This then protected the submissions more and made them more interesting because people knew it may end the match.
>They go on about storytelling and psychology but I don’t think they even know what those words actually mean. It's just doings things you would expect someone to do. If someone has a visible injury, you should attack the injured part. If someone is a small guy in a mask, they should probably be doing flying moves. If that small guy is fighting a big wrestler, he shouldn't really be able to knock him over easily and so forth. If two people have a major feud, they should be doing more brawling while if two faces fight, they should basically just be exchanging holds and amateur wrestling moves since they wouldn't want to hurt each other.
