Literally how would a partnership with WWE even work? You can't do a split show with any of them because the American audience have no idea who any of those Japanese literal whos are. It works in AEW because it's a niche in a smark bubble and the smarks cheer for everyone. Sometimes they don't even cheer based on how most of the joshis sent to AEW get no reaction. At most a partnership would consist of sending someone like Nakamura for one match to Japan and that's it. I genuinely don't see how WWE could work a partnership. They are way too big and it benefits the other promotion more than WWE itself as the WWE have nothing to gain in return. They're better off just poaching talent as they have been doing.

We are in a time where more people may know the random ass japanese but WWE seems like they will never make it a big deal ever again.

WWF had deals with Japanese wrestling promotions back in the 70s and 80s. Talent would be loaned back and forth regularly. That's how Japanese workers like Tiger Mask, Antonio Inoki, and Tatsumi Fujinami appeared in Madison Square Garden at WWF events and WWF workers like Hulk Hogan, Andre, Backlund, and Bruno appeared at Japanese events.

Vince ended the program eventually, but even as late as 1990, the WWF, AJPW, and NJPW co-promoted an event at the Tokyo Dome, the Wrestling Summit.

Vince is gone though. Makes sense that they would reevaluate a possible relationship, especially given how massive WWE's reach has become. But of course it depends on what is offered. It's one of the many real changes I'd like to see with the new regime. One of many. I'm an old school wrestling fan so can't say there isn't a lot I wouldn't change about the modern WWE.

To be fair, the best hope of a real crossover was '93 when Vince's business was struggling and they did the big Tokyo Dome show with Hogan vs. Tenryu and then Tenryu appeared on Wrestlemania.
This should've been the formula really, and it would've been a perfectly workable one to bring in a couple of Japanese guys for a Wrestlemania tag or something and then throw a WWF guy or two in NJPW's next Tokyo Dome show.
But when Hogan went to WCW, the bridge to NJPW went with him. I think Hogan had a lot to do with their working together in the 80s and 90s.
