He shat on his own career.
His 2000 is better than most people's entire career, but the reign of terror counters it by being such a hinderance that nobody wants to ever give him credit.

His big issue is that he wants to be the Main Character, and he worked best as the 2nd heel more than anything else. Even in 2000, he basically needed Vince back after he beat Foley because he couldn't carry that role. Vince came back, took over as the main heel again, while HHH was his champion.

Compare that with Evolution where he had Flair who could talk for him, but this nigga still insisted on talking for four hours about nothing.

I probably sound retarded with this question, but why did two WWE heavyweight championship belts exist during this time period? I just got into wrestling about 6 months ago and had no idea both of these belts coexisted at the same time.

That kind of says it all, doesn't it? He managed to politic his way into big moments/matches but was never actually the iconic part of it. Take away the politicking and does he ever make it out of the upper midcard?

it's part of the invasion angle. jericho would unify them by beating steve austin and the rock in december 2001. triple h would go on to win it from jericho at wrestlemania 2002. both belts were unified as a single belt called the undisputed world heavyweight championship. but as this happened they implemented the brand split. smackdown would hold the undisputed title exclusively so triple h was given the big gold wcw style heavy weight title so that raw would have a world championship too. it's all pretty retarded.
