How much of a politician is he behind the scenes in AEW? Obviously he’s not an EVP, but he’s gotta have some pull and influence right?

Jericho arguably has more power than The Elite. He's one of the only people Tony will for the most part consistently listen to. He's also basically the only one to stay consistently in power since The Elite had to share Tony's attention with CM Punk, Danielson, Mox, and some others.

I think the source of that was because he was really the first big name in America that jumped ship to AEW. Cody, The Bucks and Kenny were more known for Japan than the US by the broader American audience but everyone knew Jericho. Plus he chose them over WWE when it was just assumed that after his NJPW "vacation" he was going straight back to WWE.

Jericho is carnying Tony Khan harder than any other wrestler has carnied a promotor since Triple H married Stephanie.

At first I thought Jericho was major cringe because of all the smarks who called him the GOAT (lol) -- but now I know that Jericho deliberately does the most awful stuff imaginable in AEW because he knows Tony is a mark and the promotion is a mudshow, and he contemptfully buries every indie shitter there in the process, and all the while convincking Tony the Mark to pay him 7 figures for it.

That to me is pretty based ngl.

What I don't understand is how Jericho is even allowed to survive in AEW. Their fans openly mock him and think of him like a "right wing chud", they make fun of his wife for that Jan 4th thing. He always says shit on podcasts that would send them into a frothing frenzy if literally anyone else said them.

Yet they still cheer and sing his theme song.
