>>8309611>>8309696Austin had to fight for years to earn his spot at the top, debuting back in 1989 and working for WCW for years, and took nearly a decade to get a world title at a major promotion. Just as he was the most over guy in the WWF, Austin got crippled by Owen yet still stayed on the road with the boys, working shows without getting physical, and returned to the ring far too soon. From summer 1997 on, Austin knew he was severely limited in ring, so again had to protect his spot but couldn't just go out and steal the show with his matches like he used to be able to. And that happened about half a year prior to winning his first world title.
The Dwayne debuted in 1996 in WWF and got the rocket strapped on his back by Vince immediately. He never had to earn his spot. He never had to worry about his spot either since he was young and had zero miles so no lagging injuries like so many pro wrestlers by the time they get to the top.
And to top it off, The Dwayne never cared about wrestling, only the game that came with it. He only started wrestling when a football career failed and he left for Hollywood as soon as he could.
If you really can't understand why Austin was protective of his spot, while The Dwayne was not, then you don't understand people at all.
