There wasn't a single one who could've pulled it off. Name one, I defy you to. Despite what smarks want, Brock had actual star power due to his UFC success. Real people don't care about workrate or any of that crap. Brock was the obvious choice for the final boss, this put it in stone. The real problem is that they picked Roman as the babyface to cash in on Brock's run. They botched that so badly that he's still trying to get over it with this heel run. If they'd picked someone more likable then instead, everyone would love Brock's win for launching that guy.

No way Taker's streak is still that hot in 2018. They should've turned Roman heel in 2014 instead of Seth. The streak would've been so cold by 2018. It was wise to end it before the crowd was expecting it. Maybe if they'd aligned Roman with Vince and HHH in 2015 and get beat Taker then, they could've gotten it over as if Roman didn't deserve it while not exposing him the way they ended up doing. But 2018 would've been long past the point of caring for most.

nah, it should have ended before 10 years. carder should have still done the sean michaels and triple h matches but retired for real after those. instead we got a streak that went on too long to give the rub to a geezer who didn't need it, followed by yet another roman coronation and a bunch of shitty post-retirement "i need money" matches

this. there was no real rub from beating 'taker in the 50/50 booking era, might as well have had one of the hottest, most over stars beat the streak instead of someone you'd be asking "where are they now?" about a few years after

Considering the fact that they're still getting mileage out of Brock to this day and he was the top heel for 5 years after that, yeah. Was it the perfect choice? No, but those things rarely happen in wrestling, they could've done way worse like Goldberg's streak, so just be happy with it being decent.

Roman was a fine choice to be the babyface that eventually slays Brock.
Problem was they rushed Roman's ascent AND Taker kept having WM matches after the Streak.

If Taker wants to go out on a retirement tour, let him, but there needed to be a better reason for why he kept going after the Streak ended.

Also Roman absolutely should have beaten Brock at WM34. It was the same building where Brock had ended the Streak, it made too much sense

It immediately preceded his unstoppable mega heel run with the belt and Heyman used it to get heat for years afterwards and then led to a 3 match feud 2 years after. If anything, it was one of the few things in WWE that did have a long term booking plan

It accomplished absolutely fucking nothing. The sheer fucking stupidity of wasting Taker's streak on Lesner instead of using it to make a new star made me realize WWE's incompetence is truly infinite and there's nothing they won't ruin. Every character, every angle, every storyline in WWE will end in ruin every single time. I stopped watching it there.
