>>8330767It's because they're jealous, but also because leaving home is a big thing in certain cultures over others. In Latin American cultures, as well as quite a few European cultures, for instance, it's not entirely uncommon for people to stay with their families until their mid 20s, studying, working, building themselves up before going out alone. In turn, they learn to care for their parents when they get too old to do things themselves.
In other cultures, the US being a key example, leaving home at 18 is normal. You're expected to just know what to do or to figure it out. Countries big on "labor" and workforce do that. That's what I did and it went okay. But now I'm in a bit of a rut and I'm staying with my parents while taking a part time and working on myself. It's been very healthy, but I also think finding something to do with your time is a good thing.
I appreciate the sincerity. I don't hate NEETs, they're playing the game better than I am. I do hate those who get smug about it, though.
