Yeah, i never got that. If you think about Warrior was brought back just to do the job, while if they really wanted to give Hogan a temporal comeuppance to not make the WCW side look like jobbers they already had other veterans and/or other ways to do it
I think they didn't really think about that much. The probably just said "We'll let Piper get the wins, whatever. The feud will give us some filler main events"

speaking of piper. his 1985 feud with ordorff was amazing, its actually what really got me into wrestling seeing them both on saturday nights main event

also how did piper manage to get away with pretty much never getting pinned for half a decade in WWF?

this was my favorite piper moment. he managed to slam big john stud. who at the time was comparable in size to andre. first time I saw this I actually jumped out of my chair. Crowd was going crazy too

He had heat for being a loudmouth, so he avoided getting shut up to keep his heat. He was so good at it (and drew so much doing it) that Vince, or whoever was the booker, went along with beating him many less times than most other top heels
Fun fact: On january 30th, 1987 Roddy piper got pinned by Adrian adonis. He wouldn't be pinned or submitted in singles competition until february 18th, 1990 when he was pinned by Rick rude. Even then, both the loss against Adonis and the one against Rude happened on house shows

Yeah, Adonis and Piper pretty much exclusively wrestled each other on house shows for a few months. Piper won 99% of those matches
