If you ever talk to a casual fan, you’d know that they don’t give a shit about the actual wrestling part of wrestling. They care about the Russo-tier garbage that came from the Attitude Era (20 minute promos with SWEAR WORDS and EDGY CONTENT, bra and panties matches [porn can be found anywhere now so that shit doesn’t even matter anymore], that corporate STOOGE MCMAHON getting his ass beaten)
They don’t actually care about what it’s supposed to be. Wrestling fans desperately want wrestling to be mainstream again, however that would mean losing its true identity and selling out. Ironically being anti corporate and anti authority means selling out in wrestling terms.
That’s just in general for things nowadays though, because everything is anti authority and anti corporate, despite the fact that most if not all corporations have government contracts and massive amounts of management and red tape, most things made nowadays are backed up by massive corporations, and if they aren’t backed up initially and they become popular enough they will be backed up by corporations and subsequently the government/deep state.
That’s why the government and corporations use anti authoritarian and anti corporate shit as a commodity, because it sells. Trannies, Chuds, and constitutionalists get mad when you point that out, probably because they weren’t around 60 years ago when anti establishment shit was actually semi grassroots, but it’s the truth.

This isn't true at all. Wrestling was at its peak in the late 90s because of the larger than life stars, a once-in-a-lifetime confluence of massive charisma talents. Giants like HOGAN, AUSTIN, THE ROCK.

Attitude Era was lightning in a bottle for many reasons. I don't think it was possible to really keep all those people even if they did everything right because wrestling is kinda like a circus, once you've seen it once it loses its appeal for a lot of people and its hard to keep things fresh. Like audiences getting tired of Jake the Snake's routine. In the Attitude Era, what other entertainment was competing with it? We had like Playstation and N64. Now there is Netflix, Youtube, even this website we're posting on now 4chan, that wasn't around back then, and a million other different flavors of goyslop. Zoomers would rather watch trannies twerking on TikTok than the Tribal Chief. Wrestling is no longer the tip of the spear in terms of edginess, I'm not even sure what it's current main selling point would be to people. I guess WWE would say its like an entertainment extravaganza similar to a Superbowl halftime show or something.

Yeah that's 100% true. There are so many more ways you can entertain yourself now than watching wrestling. Even now there is a lot of stuff I like in wrestling but I can't be bothered to spend 2 or 3 hours watching even a couple times a week. Even if there were a showed that exactly matched my own preferences I probably wouldn't be watching every show, every week. There's just far too much other shit to do that's a more fun use of my time.

I can say that the in-ring work now is a thousand times better than it was during the AE which I much prefer. But that isn't going to change how I feel about it or make me want to watch or anything. If I say I like Russo era garbage and I have bad taste in wrestling, well, then I do. But so do a lot of people.

It was just a way to get people to trust the booking and to establish the idea of a hierarchy and prevent people from waltzing into title shots ahead of the regular roster. There's nothing wrong with that idea in principle, but obvious the rankings introduces all kinds of other logical holes that people loved to rip apart so I'm not surprised it was de-emphasized.
