Not getting into the in ring style I think there’s two things they do that really make for weird shows.
First they can’t just do simple angles. Like a bad guy can’t just attack a good guy, they have to counter and duck a bunch like it’s the middle of their match up instead of just letting the heel get their heat. Imagine the best angle of all time, when Eddie Gilbert and the Russians attacked the cowboy. But instead cowboy cartwheels his way out of their attacks for 3 minutes before they finally lay him out.
The other one is that they seem to use the same story beats across feuds at the same time. In 2020 almost everyone got kidnapped from back stage at one point. Recently Punk and Bryan both suffered losses because they came back from injury too early, Kenny also did this but they never made it part of the storyline so maybe he was actually botching. And at this last ppv the big storyline was “will death triangle make Fenix use the time keeper’s hammer?” And then on the same show swerve tries to get Keith Lee to use pliers, which for some reason were also on the time keepers table.
It’s like they never do a second draft when writing the shows.
