it was a good year when you were watching it as it happened. rock, austin and hogan were there for a bit, and all the wcw stars started coming in on raw which was exciting. smackdown was also good with vince and brock. it just got boring towards the end after the excitement wore off, the wcw guys had all fizzled out, kane was walking around looking like penguin from batman, and it was clear austin wasnt wrestling again

2004 on the other hand is a disaster with the shittest roster ever. awful filler year

The year started fine but between XIX and XX I think if you were a kid or teenager watching you started to realise it was the end of something

A bunch of stuff happened that made the shows almost a bit sad to watch as a kid with how much things changed. I also turned 13 that year so was growing up a bit as well I suppose and it just never felt the same afterwards.

Well its because HHH killed off so many guys beforehand, RVD was hot and they killed his momentum, Kane was hot and they killed his momentum, Steiner died before he even got started and Booker T got absolutely buried so it's not really a surprise they thought the same was going to happen to Goldberg. But considering the model at the time, I guess it made sense since they had a PPV the next month and heel champion vs Goldberg would have sold much better than Goldberg against a random heel.

You just fucked me up with that actually going back and looking at the 2004 roster. I remember watching every week, but it was just stuffed with midcarders that were never going to be the guy or really interesting. If they weren't a midcarder, they had probably already had their highest level feud or best matches behind them by that point. Brock, Randy, and maybe a few others you could argue don't fit into either of those.

2004 was abysmal. That was my freshman year of high school and when I knew that it was time to tune away from wrestling for a while. I missed a lot that year and only remember a few things. I think Eugene was the last thing I remember about it.

2003 was bretty gud. Especially Smackdown. Raw’s roster seemed a little thin on the baby face side. I didn’t really mind Gaytch having a long run with the title. Especially after the previous 5 years where the title was tossed around like a hot potato. Smackdown was definitely the better show in 2003. Other anons are right about 2004. 2004 was absolute dog shit. Only redeeming thing about 2004 was Gaytch and Evolution beating up that retard Eugene.

It was the year that I decided to stop watching altogether. I had been a diehard fan since the New Generation days. I can't even pinpoint what turned me off so much but the WWE just lost its appeal. Needless to say, Triple H fatigue certainly factored into my decision.

I remember being genuinely pissed that Lesnar left, and I knew it would effect SmackDown. I just never imagined how bad it was gonna get. I thought maybe Kurt Angle was gonna be the lead guy and he could have feuds with Eddie, RVD, Cena, and Booker T. Then JBL gets pushed out of the blue which was weird to me at the time.
