Bischoff's contracts killed WCW and everything he did was set up a short, unsustainable run and then die. Hogan should have been off the radar in 97 and the NWO needed to change as a gimmick. It was tired by then, but it could have had life if you built up face factions or wrestlers to balance them out. Also, they let too much talent just walk. WCW was gonna have to take a ratings backseat until they built up new stars. But yeah, this could have worked. NWO can still work and it would be fucking dimes. Imagine Orton, Ziggler, Omos, Lashley, and Brock being managed by Nash (extra dimes for having the balls to bring Hogan back). Shit would be over.
