The show won't change at all. Whoever buys this is buying the brand and keeping it in tact. This isn't a fed just now developing contact with a major network or catering their product to a network. WWE has been doing that for years. It has changed its product to cater to networks and sponsors to get to this point to be sold. Whoever buys this is basically going to keep much of the team in place, with some firings happening in the lower management and production side. Otherwise it will be the same thing with the same people in power. None of the interested buyers would feel the need to replace anyone in the lead positions as those people have again been hired from or groomed to placate corporate network TV.

This is not true. The call for Iger to dump ESPN has been vocal and it is literally not an Iger move. Disney has the money to do whatever the hell it wants it just needs to do so wisely. Chapek's cost cutting moves did not help the stock one bit so the call to unload something like ESPN, while in the short term makes sense, in the long term is short sighted. Iger is a buyer through and through. He was the one that purchased Marvel and Lucasarts. If thinks WWE is worth purchasing it would ironically be to add it to ESPN+. I dont think they will buy it but they could. NBC is the clear favorite here with Amazon being the clear second. Amazon would love to add to their liv e sports with something like WWE and have beyond the money needed. They just signed up for the NFL and MLB.

There have been people with Disney stock interests calling for Disney to sell ESPN to recoup capital. Like I said it is short sighted. ESPN was interested in signing WWE before it reupped for its ESPN+ streaming platform. There was a plan for the PPV's to air there.

Because WWE is not something like Star Wars. i know to us fans its scripted TV horseshit. But TV networks see WWE as something else. It is live "sports" content. Like boxing, football, etc. Weird I know but there is a real reason Vince started calling his fed "sports entertainment" and it had to do with that. Live sports broadcasting is always at a premium because of the amount of ads that can be sold during it. It isnt as hit and miss as sitcom TV. Something like Star Wars takes alot of time and money to produce and then it could flop and effect your the money spent. Live TV is safer. This is more like when Amazon purchased the Thursday Night Football package and then hired known TV guys like Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. They went with a known team. WWE is a package deal that has again constructed itself for awhile to be brought outright. Its ready made with corporate interests having long since been considered.

It should be all of those things.
The best wrestling shows are the ones that are a buffet of all styles; a little bit of everything.
Main Events/World Title matches should be presented as serious sporting events but outside of that down the card you can have a variety of styles/presentation. That's what makes pro wrestling great.

Yes anon they are going to say it is scripted because they are not going to kayfabe tell TV execs it is "real". TV execs look at WWE as live TV sports. Is it scripted? Yes. they realize that but it follows the format and time allocation that a sports program would. You see this in how they choose to 1) replace it, as UFC replaced WWE programming in the past and 2) when and how it is scheduled to air. That is why WWE is aired against MNF, and why it is also on Friday nights. Will it defeat those things? No. But it can be put against them to serve the same purpose.

Also anon you can see the "sports" mentality behind it in things like the draft, the World Cup tournament etc. Again it is scripted and may not defeat a "real" sport but it can battle against those types of programs and is pitched to the same sort of auidence.

Fox knew what it was getting but just like anything there may be ideas or storylines they dont like or want to push. The networks? Yes networks will always have a say it what they want to see. I mean if you spent $1 billion on something wouldn't you? But as I said before the difference here is that Vince and WWE have been trying to get closer and closer to networks for decades. They have hired execs from that world and have actively changed their product to better suit what they wanted, hence the PG era. Vince didn't let network TV change his product. Vince WANTED TV networks to change his product because he wanted the price to go up and the product to last longer, be more viable, attract more sponsors and eventually be brought out one day. So it's not something that will suddenly change with a purpose. WWE has been sculpted for awhile to function with network interests baked in.
