The presentation isn't flashy and cartoony like American wrestling. There's no LED board on the fucking ring or barricades or commentary regurgitating buzzwords and stupid jokes. Also the crowd isn't constantly chanting stupid shit like "FIGHT FOREVER." Kinda makes you more invested on what's happening in the ring. Almost like the performer tells the story? What a concept.

I noticed there was a lot of emphasis on these photo opportunities spread around the match, they seem to put extra attention that photographers get dynamic poses of the match, not just playing for predetermined camera angles and hard cam like western feds. The camera work on the floor is much more dynamic and tries to find things to frame. - Take this shit match for comparison. Its obvious that these two are on a mind set that this is somehow gonna look meaningful on camera but instead camera crew is confused on what they should be focusing on.

You're both kind of right, DDT is a spoof of the more retarded parts of the attitude era that's why they have a belt that's essentially the hardcore title except literally anything can win it. The street wrestling stuff is essentially "what if we did booker t vs stone cold but with customers there and made a huge joke out of it."

The initial point that their main event style is treated very seriously is also correct, their top guys can goof off but also put on your typical 25+ minute serious puro match. Their main champ is fucking Higuchi who is and looks more legit than almost any other wrestling champ currently from a shoot standpoint.

They made a lot of noise during WK, though. The Dome in general has never been great about the sound carrying, but you can clearly hear them being big on nearly all the matches after the pre-show. Other than maybe the Jr Tag Team.

The best of the best Japan matches have big crowd reactions going on for their entire duration. Go check out Ishii VS Shibata, or Shibata VS Okada, and tell me there's any respectful silence in it.
