>>8524453Finally, AEW is going DOWN.
AEW gained momentum for 2 reasons.
The first was, admittedly, because Vince did what was best for business. As the only game in town, he didn't pull the trigger on a lot of guys, he focused on key guys like Roman Reigns because 1 Roman Reigns is worth pretty much 60-80% of the roster. It's a proven method. You don't push 10 guys on top. See what's happened to AEW. They have some fantastic talent who get great reactions internally, but no one's a huge mainstream star. But I digress. The point is, everything Vince did was logical, given that WWE was the only game in town. Including annual lay offs, rematches, no clean finishes, downplay/humiliate the "legends" etc. Screw the fans. But this turned out to be a mistake because something inconceivable happened and one of those fans turned out to be a money mark. This was something that really couldn't have been predicted and you really can't blame Vince for creating a hardcore minority.
Second reason is, I'm sorry, I know we all love Uncle Paul, but he pretty much fucked it up with NXT. His failure created the optics that AEW actually had some legitimacy. If WWE did not put NXT on Wednesdays (they did it first) and Paul didn't fuck up, AEW would have been just another promotion. They would have done well for what they were but would have had no legitimacy. Alternatively, if Vince had been handling it instead of Paul, WWE/NXT would have crushed AEW on a weekly basis and relegate AEW to TNA status.
So Vince left for a bit and now AEW's falling apart because between reasons 1 and 2 as stated above, Vince got saddled with the burden of WWE being poorly perceived. Once he was gone, he took the "burden" with him and WWE instantly beat AEW.
Don't gimme that Triple H was the one who changed things bit. The tide turned before Paul even had the time to do anything. It was a matter of poor optics.
Now Vince is back without the burden of those optics and or Paul fucking up.
