When people talk about "Drawing Dimes" or a certain match is worth "a lot of money" how exactly do they work this out?

How do they calculate that Stone Cold vs CM Punk vs NJPW wrestler has brought in X amount of ticket sales, or X amount of TV buys? Surely its all just guess work. You arent buying a match, you as a fan are buying the whole event
