Torrie and Stacy were legitimately beautiful, but modern female wrestlers don't come close. Is it just the switch to HD, or have female wrestlers become uglier from earlier eras?

Generally speaking, I would not say they're uglier. In that department, looks varied far more back then while they are more middling now. What they are is far less sexy because sexiness is actively discouraged. Incels can shit on women in the past for being "fake bimbos", but they oozed sex appeal. The new crop don't and that's why they come off as less unattractive, because they don't care about being attractive.
