>>8585456He was active in WWE for about 7 years and had two arm injuries in that time, both of which were caused by other people's botches, and more to the point, both of those injuries were years after 2010. Even if he really was as brittle as you think, nobody would have known it yet.
The point
>>8584877 and
>>8584915 are making is that they had a hot new angle with Nexus that was getting a lot of attention and heat, and it was the first invasion angle since 2001. It's easy to screw up the later stages of an invasion angle, but in the first stages, the invader faction have to win big to look like a threat. Nexus needed to win the first big "us against them" match at Summerslam, and their leader needed to take one of the top titles, but WWE wouldn't let either of those things happen because they were afraid Cena or Orton losing matches would hurt their merch sales. Losing members to injuries hurt, but Nexus fizzled out because they weren't allowed to beat the top stars, their biggest win was getting the tag titles.
People do have a point that most of the Nexus weren't ever going to be big solo stars, but the whole group didn't have to be. If they'd handled it better, Barrett and Ryback would have been set up as main eventers, Bryan and Gabriel as talented workers who might move upwards if they got over, as Bryan eventually did, and the others as lower-carders or tag team guys. Otunga had great heel heat and should probably have been a manager who just occasionally had to wrestle.
