what constitutes a major wrestling promotion? a tv deal? video games? a toy line? the criteria seems inconsistent, as glorified indies like roh and mlw are considered major or notable, but similar promotions like gwf and wccw, the former of which was even broadcast on espn, are largely forgotten. even awa is seldom mentioned despite being a big player in the 80s. even ecw's popularity seems overblown but i have no way of knowing because i wasn't around back then. what's the general consensus of the notability of past and present feds so i don't drive myself crazy trying to come up with an objective standard. the only undeniably major feds i can think of are wwe, wcw, impact, and aew, but i know that list is incomplete.
