You dumb motherfucker, it is *not* easy being compelling on the mic. It is not easy dressing down opponents on the spot in a way that amuses and enraptures the audience. What they were able to do was what their peers lacked and made the latter shitters while the former got called generational talents and main-eventers.
Have you gone back and listened to Stone Cold and The Rock promos? The former's is dead simple and devoid of any cleverness; the latter's is extremely low-brow and sophmorish. Yes, anyone can pick up a mic and deliver those levels of promo, but most cannot even manage that, let alone an MJF tier, a CM Punk tier, or a Randy Savage tier.
