It might honestly be 2022. Basically the only things of note were Lesnar's fight with Reigns and Clash at the Castle. We've had our share of shit years but it's getting worse as the years go on because we don't even have part-timer legends to come draw the house once or twice a year. We're dependent on these half-cooked NXT guys.

The year's still young but I'm going with 2023. AEW has totally shit the bed, WWE is unwatchable garbage and it's being sold, possibly to Tony Khan, and no other promotions matter whatsoever. Also wrestling is the most uncool and out of touch it's ever been. Shit is primed to go amazingly bad.

2008-2009 was absolutely terrible, with the rare bright spots being found on smackdown and ecw if you were that dedicated. You can't beat the guest host era in terms of inconsequential tv. And that was the initial shock in the face of the PG switch, whereas it was sort of settled into the fans' minds by 2010.
2019 would be a very close second due to how dimeless it all was, and it has almost no replayability whatsoever, no novelty, no nothing. Just heatless bullshit.

That's just how they were booking him though the point was to make him seem like the loathsome silent badass architype. Swagger wasn't that bad he made a pretty good midcard heel who could hold a championship for a babyface to eventually take at the end of a program.
