Not only did Jay run a chicken farm full time while wrestling as a hobby, he was also a coach for several youth sports teams in his community
He would always go out of his way to help children with poor home lives and would act as a mentor for them, often giving them a job at his farm
He would die in a car fire, one of his daughters paralyzed from the neck down, the other having lost the use of her legs
