literally the only thing keeping wwe in the green is the tv and saudi money. their actual business model runs at a loss and if those tv deals and saudi shows went away they would be fucked.
With all that being said, it would make sense for whomever buys wwe to already have a tv and streaming platform so they have 5 easy hours of live content every week they don't need to pay rights fees for, just production which they can run at a loss, take 100% ad revenue. That's why it makes no sense for the saudis to buy currently, especially since they can't even get golf on tv here, let alone sports entertainment

I looked at that article and it's unclear what he means: gross revenue or gross income. The reference to WWE's billion in revenue implies that he's saying AEW made 100 million in revenue, which is nothing to brag about if you've spent hundreds of millions on your company.

The dude is a genius who saved WWE a truckload of money, to the point where he was given the title of head honcho. It wouldn't be difficult for him to work out where Tony could possibly be getting his money from when it comes to a basic fed like AEW (ticket sales etc) and how much it would cost to run the entirety of AEW.

Tony was counting on the video game to make AEW profitable in 2021 but since then the game still isn't out, the payroll keeps expanding, they just bought a new set, and he purchased ROH. The most damning fact is that he hasn't announced AEW is profitable which he would if they were. They've been around for 4 years now and they're still in the red.

AEW was approaching $100 million in revenue in 2022 and was expected to make a small profit for the first time after losing money for three years. I’m not sure it happened with how the PPV sales/attendance tanked 4th quarter.

Overall they have run at a huge loss. Again, I don’t believe their numbers due to the fact that they aren’t a public company and carny.
