Could someone please explain to me why the fuck people who are accused of sexual assault/rape through the legal system, are allowed to get rid of the case by paying money?
People who commit that type of crime rarely stop at one victim. If you give them an option to simply "pay" an accuser away then you immediately endanger other potential victims
Either tell the accuser to take their accusation all the way to a trial's verdict, or give them the option to walk away and drop the whole thing with zero payment or other form of benefit, if they feel they "can't go through the process" due to reliving trauma or whatever. But why give them the option to get paid to drop the case?
