I think now's a good time to post this.
Shortly after Jamin Pugh, best known as Jay Briscoe, passed away there was an outpour of love for Jay. And of course there's people who swim against the current. And I feel now is a good a time as any to talk about this because no doubt more of this will come up in the future.
Jay never needed to apologize to you, nor needed your approval of him changing. It's no secret Jay has had a past in homophobia. It's out there in the public. However, what's also out there and in public is his apologies. He has apologized several times, and he has made a strong effort to change. And it is sad to me that people who were friends of his, who remember him as being supportive and loving, queer or otherwise, needed to tack on the fact he was always loving and supportive.
Jay was very clear with his words in the past. But also crystal clear in his changes and his apologies. And he does not need to prove to you or anyone else that he -has- changed. He had proved it to the people who it mattered to, and that's literally all that matters.
So anyone who continues to spew that hate on social media, realize you're doing so by yourself while everyone else tells their positive experiences, stories and shares their love for Jay and shows support for his daughters and family at this time, who still need help.
Signed,
A queer guy who is tired of people being offended on his and others' behalf.
