>>8659720The originals were different at the time as they were a space opera and blended many genres together so you can see why they are revered and loved. They still hold up well today. The prequels aren't very good and miss what made the originals good and seem to suffer from a proudct of their time issue which is an edgy depressed protagonist thing but the sequels are God awful which I guess also suffers from a product of its time thing being sjw woke inclusive media.
Though just reading the short essay I wrote all star wars is a product of its time and it sounds like life was better in the 70s and 80s.
But yes somewhat overrated though what can you compare it to? Star trek, battlestar galactica? Those are Sci fi first and foremost while star wars is an opera and a bunch of other genres mixed together which is what I think people really care about as it's easier to digest.
Tldr; it's easily accessible scifi for normies following trends of the era it was made in
