Fucker was found by Mike Quackenbush, who saw his potential and was gearing him up to be the company's new masked babyface darling. The Cyberhawk gimmick/stable was created just for Wheeler and the empty suit character of Nytehawk created so everyone could work with him as far as veterans like Hallowicked, Dasher Hatfield, Mr Touchdown, etc wanting to work with Wheeler due to how great he was.
But Wheeler pissed it all away because his asian ass thought he was too pretty to wear a mask and worse, that Chikara was "beneath" Wheeler as far as him buying into his hype and thinking he was the second coming of CM Punk.
He quit Chikara first chance he could get out of his contract and his rotten behavior there basically made him persona non-grata on the indies due to the fact that a lot of indie guys came up from Chikara and consider it to be a sort of right of passage to be put through Quackenbush's masking fetish in terms of it being a piss test to see if you will play ball with other bookers BS.
Tony being a huge mark, still remembers when Wheeler was a big fucking deal and is pushing him now as a sort of "making right" real life fantasy booking, even though ironically enough, the only time Wheeler was over with fans was when he was wearing a mask.
