If the attitude era was supposedly the most popular era of wrestling then how come Hogan is remembered in pop culture as the red and yellow american hero from the 80s instead of the nWo leader?

Kek, if I remember right it was he thought he need an "edge" to fight the New Blood faction. So he started dressing evil again while still being good, basically black Hogan vs Dungeon of Doom all over again.

It wasn't. That's just revisionist history. WWF in the late 80's drew better ratings than RAW or Nitro in it's heyday. SNME drew over 10 million viewers at one point and more than either show.
