Finishers now compared to finishers 30-40 years ago are around the same power level. The difference is that so many new pinning positions were invented and perfected around the start of the 2000s while kicking out techniques have stagnated. The spot monkeys of modern wrestling are so focused on learning 1 billion different moves that they don't work enough on such key, rudimentary defensive tools.
