This is because in most cases the opposing players identify as the same gender, so a gendered pronoun is not sufficient to indicate who the commentary is referring to. Taz especially likes to bury people for using pronouns, and did so to JR when they were sharing the call on a prior AEW episode. JR's still seething from that.
