The thing is that his angles and storylines come off as if he read a "How to be a Main Eventer" book. Everything about him feels completely calculated and planned. It's weird when you can watch him do anything, and like an hour later 12321312 people on Twitter can find the exact reference. It's not meant to be a call-back either. Cody just generally thinks, "If I do this like this, it'll work" People call him Bateman for a reason. He's like Patrick Bateman. There is no genuine Cody Rhodes-- only an idea of what a Cody Rhodes should be.
Someone mentioned HHH, who is another guy that was like that, but even with him, you can tell he genuinely had a rivalry with Rock and really did want to be better.
