>>8801525They recruit young people that want to be wrestlers (In the case of Joshis, they can be as young as 12 year old, cause the women retire sooner) and have them be errand people setting up the ring, cooking and washing clothes for the pros, etc.
In the actual ring, they are jobbers that lose at least 99% of the singles matches they're in, unless it's against other Young Boys. They're learning how to do that shit in the ring and being tested, so to speak. Then eventually, after training, they transform into their proper wrestler characters and that's where their record is wiped clean and they can actually start winning. In the case of some promotions like New Japan and Noah, before their proper graduation, they go do excursions in other countries to fine tune their shit and learn other styles and broaden their horizons as well.
It's based cause it means we as spectators watch these dipshit kids come in and get BTFO day in and day out, slowly improving before our eyes, going away promising to come back stronger, and then they come back and we're more invested in seeing how good they got. It's kino.
