They'll get a new deal that'll be roughly double and (if lucky triple) what they're getting now. They're going to get jewed by WBD especially since ad rates across TV as a whole are in the fucking toilet.

The company is not run at a profit and you think a "boatload of money" is going to increase the quality of the show or somehow get more viewers. Because you have no fucking sense of how or why TV shows make money for a station. WB is trying to use AEW the same FOX, USA, and NBC use WWE which is as "live sports broadcasting". Don't hurt yourself saying it isn't a sport and its scripted, to TV networks wrestling is "live sports broadcasting". You can thank Vince for that. Live sports broadcasting eats a lot of time, and therefore provides a large canvas for advertisements to be dropped in. It is the thing many networks are clamoring for because of that. The top 50 rated shows of the past year were all NFL games. All 50. Not everything is as good as the NFL and so you try to find something similar though. WB and TNT don't have football. They have basketball and they are going to lose that soon enough as ESPN, Amazon and Youtube want to buy their package of games. Hence WB trying to come up with a back up plan with AEW to replace that. It will go badly.

I don't know, I just know TK said their first deal they got for the tryout year was pretty bad for them financially, and then TNT announced the quick renewal in early 2020 that bumped them up in pay to keep them an extra year or two. Their current deal includes an option for WBD to renew at a significantly higher price, so both side are aware AEW could potentially go elsewhere for more money, though its not clear if that will happen in the current market.

They will not grow. If they do get more money from WB, it will come with increased expectations. They are going to want AEW to not only be more like WWE in terms of ratings and ad buys, they might very well also be trying to use it to compete against actual sports events like when WWE goes up against NFL games. That will be the death kneel for AEW because anyone that thinks it can do either of those is a blind mark faggot. Every AEW fan and Meltzer himself uses every excuse in the book to explain its poor ratings performance, usually sighting some other major sports event going on, "major sports events" apparently includes hockey when it comes to AEW. What happens when it is placed directly to compete with those shows? It will get absolutely obliterated. AEW fans are going to celebrate a renewed deal because they're short sighted. With that deal it will be expected to do solid ratings against real competition. Not competing by itself on an off night and then crying when something like hockey is showing a game the same day.

FOX is not going to get AEW. FOX would replace WWE with something like a UFC fill in like One Fighting Championship or it will go the ESPN route and go more towards regional sports in some capacity. Like how ESPN bid on the hockey package. It will grab something like that, because that will provide stronger ratings and tie into the rest of their network strategy. FOX doesn't need "wrestling" it wants sports programming that gets strong multi-million ratings. AEW is not that. Your idea that "boomers" will just watch it because its there has already been proven false by TNT. They could easily watch AEW on TNT without missing WWE and they dont. Why? Easy. In actual non smark, Meltzer acting as your professor for a crash course in TV ratings reality, ANY show that does sub a million viewers does is not something anyone cares about. There are shows that do much higher ratings than AEW this past year and were canceled in their first season because the ratings were abysmal. If you are a fan of AEW you should thank god it is on the air because it is not a highly rated show, no matter what fucking metric you want to prove it with. Saying you are the most watched sports show on a fucking Wednesday night, which is one of the worst nights in terms of TV, is nothing to crow about. Nothing is on. To come in below first is laughable. Sub million viewers for a show is not a hair any network is concerned splitting and learning more about.

The deal WWE got with FOX is also not something they just went down the street to get. FOX knows that the WWE brand is a known profitable commodity. The WM brand, just that show and nothing else, is the 8th most valuable sporting brand in the fucking world. AEW is not going to be put on FOX because FOX thinks Kenny Omega is super cool and Orange Cassidy can guest star on the Family Guy. Thats not how it works.

Reality. A show is placed in a time slot and day not by a spin of some wheel in an office but analytics and performance. AEW is on a dead night for a reason. It is not placed on nights that have major competition and major shows for a reason. When it is pre-empted it is placed after re-runs of other shows for a reason. The reason is because it is a sub million viewer show, and cannot be expected to draw the attention of viewers if there is better competition available to watch.

They are literally going to be outbid for it, either in terms of it being brought outright or another larger streaming platform wanting to buy the rights to add to their live sports programming portfolio. Amazon already purchased TNF and a baseball package and would bid on WWE to add to both. ESPN wanted to show WWE PPV's on ESPN+ before the NBC deal happened last time.

Then you don't understand how TV contracts work or the sale of comapnies. Again this is why people like you thought the sale to the Saudi's was "official" when anyone who has a modicum of experience with stock knows a sale of a company doesnt happen literally over night. An outright sale of WWE would not affect the current TV deals because they are set to run out in a year and it would take a sale about that long to clear, and the new owners to actually fully integrate WWE into itself. In the interim the show would literally just go on and be televised as is. If Disney brought it tomorrow it wouldn't "pull" Smack from FOX. Likewise FOX is not going to drop Smackdown and suddenly decide that it has to fill 3 hours of prime Friday night time slot with "something else" when it has a year on its contract still. They plan years ahead. This is what people and companies do.

No. It's amazing that's how you see it. TV shows are not put in a timeslot and then people watch to see if they do well. Timeslots are chosen based on what the network thinks the show can do. This is why shows the network has high hopes for are placed on a Monday night after an NFL game instead of a Wednesday night when nothing is on. AEW is in a "bad timeslot" because TNT has people in place, who can quantify that the best place it could be is in that "bad time slot".

No my argument is AEW is a poor ratings show. I dont know if you've noticed but not everything is a high ratings show. Networks would love that, but it isnt possible. Just like its not possible to win every hand of a poker game or the lottery consistently. Some shows are going to end up at the bottom. That's fine because you have to show something on a Wednesday night. You pick the shitty show for that. The problem rests on the shitty show, because eventually it is easier to try something new in that time slot and it will be replaced. This list ranks all 126 channels by Monday-Sunday primetime (8-11 p.m.) viewer averages for the year of 2022. TBS comes in 7th with 849,000 and since Dynamite is almost always above that number I would assume they are beneficial to the network.

Likewise USA ranks in at 14th with 655,000 which really underscores how RAW carries their network. WWE is invaluable to them.

Just wished it had the averages for the 18-49 demo so we could have a better understanding of the most valued viewers in regards to advertisers.

Highly unlikely Netflix would be interested. Amazon is a possibility I guess, as they're already throwing money at setting up for sports streaming. Still highly unlikely though, as AEW is very much a niche product and Amazon is focusing on the Premier League, NFL etc.

A thirty seven year head start has it's perks when talking about connections and string attachments. AEW got further than most because Khan had connections, but it remains to be seen how it all shakes out. The next few years will be telling, and heavily based on WWE's behavior, ownership, and AEW's stability.

With the retarded console wars as they are though, if WWE did something to make people turn on them they would simply stop watching wrestling altogether like they did when WCW folded.
