Alison Hargreaves thought she could climb K2. Hell, she almost did. She summited the sumbitch. And then on the way down, a blizzard battered her into submission and spat out her lifeless frozen corpse into a crevice. Her body was never found. Her son Tom was 6 years old when she died. He grew up and became a mountain climber to honor her legacy. In 2019, he was killed by Big Dimes Nanga Parbat with his girlfriend when the mountain decided to kill him. Now his corpse is on a different mountain. Some people just have this faustian desire to kill themselves while accomplishing greatness patterned into their blood. I believe Darby Allin could one day achieve such greatness by dying in a landslide on Annapurna.
