>>8844307>What did you think of Shota Umino's big shock victory against SANADA and laying out of Naito?Maybe a bit harsh on SANADA, but I did like the post-match and promo on Naito.
>First off, do you think Shota is on good progress to being an established ace or do you think he's showing signs of Stardust Genius tier floundering?I really like what they're doing with this build. Naito is really good at this kind of build, and with the connection to Umino it's a natural first feud.
>And secondly, some of /pw/ disagreed with me, but I really thought that the reaction for that moment and post match promo, in particular, was surprisingly coldHaving rewatched it for writing this, I'm not sure I agree with you. Sure, pinning SANADA doesn't get a nuclear pop but it's a good reaction for a house show Korakuen crowd. You're right that there isn't a ton of reaction to the promo, though. I'm not sure if it's his wording, which doesn't register to me as a non-Japanese speaker, or if it's just his general demeanor. He seems unsure where to stand and where to look, especially as he's kneeling over Naito. I'm sure he'll grow into that part, though.
>I think there's an underlying resentment from some of the fanbase at the idea of a change of guard, and I think the crowd for that show happened to have a big amount of people that feel that way.Wouldn't be the first time a crowd has issues accepting the coming of a new generation. I think it will be easier to visualize as a movement once there's more to it than just Umino, though. Narita has said similar things, but he hasn't wrestled on the recent shows.
