Imagine it’s WM14 and Austin wrestles Shawn at No Way Out and loses, and then Shawn wrestles Triple H and WM and does the job.

You must not have been there. Austin was poised to be a break out star well before WM14. He was doing commercials for MTV while still IC champion. Sami is appreciated as comic relief in relation to the Bloodline but he would sink under the weight of the title. Eddie Guerrero couldn't do it, what makes you think El Generico would do any better?

Cody main eventing and winning the big one at the Granddaddy of them All is his destiny. He is not only going to do what Dusty never did, he is going to do what CM Punk never did yet again and prove that it is game players and not rule breakers who make it.

Here's the issue though, Sami has nowhere near the same level of popularity or wrestling ability that Austin had. Sami is an eternal midcarder who got swept up in a good angle and they made magic with it. But now that it's over and Zayn is off the island of relevancy, he's going to drift right back down the card to where he started. He's just not the main event.
