The Rock isn't a writer, he isn't the director, etc -- the reason these 4 movies are so "samey" is because they expose Hollywood for what it fucking is: a creatively bankrupt industry in a tailspin that is entirely run by (((marketing))) people.
They're anti-creative idiots who shit out the safest, most generic crap in a hamfisted attempt to make the most money possible. That's why there's nothing remakes, reboots, prequels, sequels, adaptations, and schlock like this that is so soulless it feels like spam in a can.
