It's a secondary league and a lot of people will never watch it no matter what because it will be seen as second rate. And unlike various teams who have been around for decades, these teams haven't been and people don't have the connections with them to make up for it.
Beyond that, if the media doesn't cover it, it won't get much interest, since people watch for stories and not in-game play, And the media didn't cover the last version of the XFL much nor did they cover the USFL. You would think they would because it's more content, more to talk about and it would help them if it got popular, but they don't. As for why? They aren't a neutral party. They give the XFL/USFL too much coverage and the NFL will get mad. Then the NFL won't want to air on their channel anymore.
