Why do marks think winning fake wrestling matches gets you over? You get over by establishing yourself as a interesting character and being consistently entertaining in segments and matches. Brock could put over a young guy huge but there's a 99 percent chance that young guy will continue being a dimeless shitter after Mania then you just blew one of your few remaining Brock matches.

They literally think every match with a big star is gonna be like Austin beating HBK if they win without understanding that 99% of the work into building that star is done before the match and following through booking after said match.

exactly. Austin was already the guy. it just wasn't official until he had the title. same for Hogan and Cena. these "big wins" are really just the coronation. everyone already knew who next in line was.
