Howie is too much of a control freak and swears the ratings came from him and his neuroses being vomited on the mic. He buried his own talent left and right. Billy West, Jackie, Artie, KC, Stuttering John. Anybody that got over he undercut and fired them if they asked for more than a few hotdogs. Still listen to his show live from his sterile bunker once in a while and it’s unbearable, if he didn’t have Ronnie to pick on, a legit 80 something year old man it would be 4 hours of dead air. Still doing whacky prank calls in 2023 and swearing he’s the worlds greatest interviewer when he’s literally sub Podcast tier. Respect due for being a GOAT but if he started his show in the 00’s he would be an accountant by now. Never could have gotten over.
