they got over because tony kahn booked them to have le epic matches against the briscoes and for the young bucks to put them over clean. that wasn't "organic". it was the booker pushing them.
they were supposed to carry tk's newly acquired roh brand while tk also pushed the acclaimed as aew tag champions, since the acclaimed were even more over and more marketable, while also ticking minority boxes (gets some heat off tk for "only having white champions").
it was around this point i recall ftr really publicly seething that the bucks had not given them a title shot (due to drunk hardy, the bucks had to take the titles for a short period before dropping them). the direction tk had planned for the longterm booking was swerve -> acclaimed at this point, but i guess ftr bald thought all those plans should be dumped and they should have ftr take the aew tag titles instead. when this didn't happen, he blamed the bucks, even though tk rather than the bucks was the booker, the guys being pushed were swerve in our glory and acclaimed rather than the young bucks, and ftr had already recently gone over the bucks clean. i can imagine if the bucks were pissed with ftr, it was over being publicly blamed for any of this. and i can imagine the bucks not wanting to work with the kind of schizo that makes those accusations publicly.
