HBGay was very talented, one of the best performers ever. But his attitude got in the way a lot. WWE has tried to focus on the good with him because it benefits them. It's gone so far as to be considered revisionism. For those of us that lived through Shawn's career as it happened, he was an unstable performer, a primadonna, that was his own worst enemy, many times refusing to work with people he didn't like, or chasing them out of the company because he didn't like them, or working purposely poorly against those he didn't like or if he didn't like the finish. In short: HBGay is a bitch.
And remember the Hogan match happened after HBGay had "reformed" and become a "Christian." Of course that was just a work to get the boys to let him back in the locker room because he had made so many enemies back in the 90s for being such a monumental asshole.
