>>8939059>>8939109i think there's fine margins in this game
it's a physical, athletic game - scripted but still, you need to be super physcaly good at it, especially with the jap style
ok in american style you can keep going even when you lose several steps thanks to gimmick and in ring shenanigans and storyline, think hogan. think hogan 2002.
but in jap style, njpw style, you can't use that as a crutch (unless your who gimmick is stupid gimmicks like yano)
losing a step means losing a massive chunk of overall ability to put out a great performance
it's like in real sports - cristiano ronaldo is still very good at soccer, and he's still in phenomenal shape for a human being. still has explosiveness and agility and pace and strength, can run circles around normie humans
but he's just lost that step due to age, and losing just a step meant he couldnt compete at the top european level at all any more
he did not lose 50% of his athletic capability, maybe 5%, but 5% was all it took for going from an asset to a team to a hinderance
very fine margins
ishii may have only lost about 5% of his power for his strikes, 5% of the speed in his arms to mae the strikes look sudden, 5-10% of his strength to lift and suplesx people, 5-10% of his pace running the ropes etc
but just those 5% losses are the difference between it looking like a convincing fight vs old fat men doing choregraphed dancing together
maybe it's just me personally, but i really felt the dfference when i watched the g1 last year, apart from the jay match (no doubt because jay is so great), ishii fell really. i could see he was getting older, tireder, slower, weaker.
