Styles, Rollins, Mox, Danielson, Owens, Sami, Punk, Balor, and arguably Samoa Joe since they clearly tried with him but he just kept getting injured at the wrong times. I'm not even counting NXT. All of those were successes on the main roster. And you could even look at guys like Lashley and McIntyre, or even Cody, that were considered failures in WWE, became a success on the indies, were welcomed back, and then were pushed to the moon.
I'm sure ymwe can both list a ton of indie guys that failed too. But it's not like WWE isn't willing to book guys that got big outside of the WWE system. And that's not a surprise when you look at their past. WWF was built on taking top stars from other smaller promotions and making them big stars back in the 80s and 90s.
