Does he factor crowd reaction into his ratings at all? I've seen him give 5 stars to matches that had dead silent crowds and 1 stars to matches with rowdy crowds that were on their feet reacting to everything in the ring?

It did use to factor in. I remember him saying that Okada and Aj Styles had a match where it was incredible based on the in-ring work. But Aj Styles wasn't yet over with the NJPW crowd, so they didn't react to his moves. He said he marked it down for that. If you listen to him talk in the mid 00s, he was far more strict. But like after 2010s NJPW, he stopped giving a shit.

Yes. He even said the CotC Gunther/Sheamus crowd reaction helped it get 5 stars recently.
They help but he's not going to give stars for a crowd alone. Sort of like bonus points for a good answer on a test that goes above and beyond the scope of a question.
