Tony was barely even booking in the first year of AEW. It was all the Elite, Cody and Shida. Tony was just the filter. Then Tony had to take over completely because too many ex-wwe guys started politicking

he was a good booker from 1983-2008 or so. he surrounded himself with creative people to bounce ideas off of as well. somewhere in 08-12 is when he went off the rails and old age/senility started to catch up.
