VPW2. Your mileage with it may vary if you aren’t into puro. The only recognizable guys to most American fans would be Vader, Hansen, Liger, Muta, whatever. If you are into puro, it’s possibly the deepest roster of any wrestling game. It’s the equivalent to having all WWF, WCW, ECW and even more guys all in one game. The gameplay is the best AKI has ever done. The MMA guys control slightly differently, i.e. you can’t irish whip them and their grapples do takedowns instead of wrestling holds. There’s even an MMA mode. AKI designed their wrestling games with the atmosphere/wrestling style of AJPW in mind and you can really see it in VPW. It makes the other games feel like reskins, which they technically are since VPW1 came first. There’s too many little differences between VPW2 and No Mercy that enhances the atmosphere and makes it better overall. But again if you don’t care for puro, it’ll mean nothing and No Mercy will be better.

No Mercy is unplayable garbage that runs at 4 fps and was designed to be played with a gardening instrument Nintendo tricked you into thinking was a controller. Any reverence for this game is purely from the nostalgia addled brains of man children.

All Stars is kino gameplay but it's closer to being it's own genre than a traditional wrestling game

Def Jam Fight for NY is the best AKI game but don't know how much of it you can call wrestling even though the first game was through and through a wrestling game

Overall Backyard Wrestling 2 has got New Jack, Nick Mondo, ICP, Sonjay Dutt and Porntars so it's the best
