I don't understand why these companies will buy rights to old wrestling footage and then just bury it. The number of people who want to see those matches gets smaller and smaller as time goes on, why not try to at least make some money off of your investment

TV Asahi ain't buying shit, they've had the rights to all of it since nearly the inception of the company 50 years ago.

As for why they keep them buried, who the fuck knows.

Due to Muto's retirement, they added The Great Muta vs. Lord Steven Regal and you know that was probably a pain in the ass to convince TV Asahi to let go.

I imagine a lot of the old footage is in bad condition and they don't want to waste time/resources on remastering old tapes unless they think its profitable. It's a shame and for archive purposes that stuff should be preserved before it is lost forever.

BUT the full shows are out there, bros. Go on billibilli and search for wrestlers by their names in kanji and shit and you'll find a ton of great stuff. Mostly individual matches but they do have entrances and shit at least

It's a real shame that NJPW World has to cut a lot of the entrances and shit because they're so fucking iconic and dimes from the 90s especially, check it out

TV rights in Japan are a bitch. Look at the Noah selection in WU or AJPW TV. The footage from Nippon TV isn’t there, and GAORA trickles a match or two. Nippon TV though, does air full shows remastered once in a while.
